Treatment Focus

Philippa's experience enables her to offer effective outpatient, individualised, psychological care. She treats a wide range of mental health disorders,  life  changes and distress, and provides a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples. 


The focus is to help individuals heal, grow, and become aware of their inner strengths. This is achieved by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customising a treatment plan using evidence based psychological talking therapies

Organisational Focus

Philippa's service and staff team development experience enables her to offer a service to organisations looking to enhance the wellbeing of their staff, organisation and project development. 


The organisational focus is to help staff and organisations to become more resilient and function in a psychologically health way, to enhance the wellbeing of  the individuals and the organisation. 

Lecturing and Supervision service

Philippa's experience at running workshops, university lecturing and staff development enables her to deliver a wide range of courses and learning opportunities. 


Philippa provides a considered boundaried supervision  to psychologists, therapists  and  other  practioners.

Who is Philippa Capel

Philippa is a qualified, chartered, HCPC registered psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in the NHS. This has given her a wealth of experience and knowledge about how to support mental health growth and recovery, as well as staff, team and service development. 


After working full time in the NHS for her career she has moved to part time to develop a private practice and offer her services outside the NHS.


Philippa's therapy work is guided by the best practice evidence base, including CBT, EMDR and ACT, as recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. Her service development work is guided by leadership and Quality Service Improvement and Redesign (QSIR) principles. 


Her  most  recent  publication  is  a  chapter  on  ‘Older  Adults’  Psychology’  in  Best,  D.,  Nicholas,  H., &  Bradley,  M., (2022)  Roles  and  Contexts  in  Counselling  Psychology.
